Flight Operations
Q: Is West Texas Aviation still the operator at KVHN?
No. West Texas Aviation ceased all operational responsibilities at KVHN as of February 6th, 2025. Since that date, all airport operations, fueling services, and on-site coordination have been managed by Culberson County Aviation.
Q: What are the airport’s operating hours?
KVHN is open 24 hours a day for authorized flight operations. Line service, fueling, and ground handling support are available during published business hours, with after-hours assistance available by request and subject to applicable service charges.
Q: Is prior permission required to land at KVHN?
Prior permission may be required depending on the nature of the flight and type of aircraft. While most general aviation traffic does not require prior authorization, aircraft conducting charter, air taxi, oversized operations, or special missions (including cargo or government flights) must submit a request in advance. All aircraft operators are encouraged to submit arrival and service requests through our FlightBridge portal, which serves as the preferred platform for scheduling, services coordination, and ground handling notification.
Q: Is the airport towered?
No. KVHN is an uncontrolled airport. Pilots must utilize the published Common Traffic Advisory Frequency to self-announce arrival and departure intentions in accordance with FAA Part 91 operating standards.
Q: Are NOTAMs regularly published for KVHN?
Yes. Temporary runway or taxiway closures, construction notices, or service outages are published via FAA NOTAM channels. Pilots are responsible for checking NOTAMs before flight planning or arrival.
Q: Where is the airport located?
KVHN is located at 100 Airport Road, Van Horn, TX 79855. The facility is situated just minutes from downtown Van Horn and accessible via Highway 2185.

Q: What forms of payment are accepted at KVHN?
Culberson County Aviation accepts a broad range of secure payment methods for fueling and related services. Major credit cards accepted include American Express, MasterCard, and Visa. We also welcome aviation fuel cards that includes Air Card, AVCard, AVFuel Pro Card, Multi Service Aviation, and World Fuel Services. Additionally, pre-approved business and corporate accounts may be established upon request, subject to review and written authorization. While we do not offer contract fuel pricing at this time, Culberson County Aviation proudly participates in the AVFuel Rewards Program, enabling eligible operators to accrue points for qualified transactions.
Q: Are handling or ramp fees waived with fuel purchases?
Yes. Ramp fees, infrastructure charges, or overnight parking costs may be waived when certain minimum fuel uplift thresholds are met. These thresholds are variable and based on aircraft type and operational category. For accurate confirmation of waiver eligibility, operators are encouraged to contact our operations desk directly or coordinate in advance using FlightBridge.
Q: Can I receive an invoice or itemized receipt after fueling?
Yes. Itemized invoices and fuel receipts are available upon request at the time of service. Alternatively, we can deliver digital copies by email to the verified operator or authorized flight department representative listed on file. For ongoing account reconciliation, recordkeeping assistance, or post-service billing requests, our administrative office is available to support all documentation needs promptly and professionally.
